Harajuku is located Shibuya-district and is known as the mecca for “Kawaii” which simply translates to cute! In this tour, we will walk through this colorful neighborhood where you will encounter cute, strange, and hilarious people, clothes, accessories, and toys. One part of the tour will take you down Takeshita Street (aka Takeshita Dori) where you will see numerous small boutique trendy stores. We will also wander through various “Ura-hara” which translates to back alleys of Harajuku. An adventure through Harajuku will be sure to spark your creativity! We will also step back in time and see the grand Meiji Shrine.
After Harajuku, prepare yourself to dodge people at Shibuya Crossing, the world’s most frantic intersection. Close by, you will see and learn about the statue of Hachikō – a loyal dog that has become the symbol of Shibuya. This area has many novel venues such as the Mame-Shiba Dog Cafe, Kawaii Monster Cafe, and “Lightening Fast Sushi” and unique gift shops where you can pick up some souvenirs to take back home. For the music lovers, you will get a chance to check out a small music cafe bar containing more than 11,000 vinyl records and will be shown the location of a world renown underground nightclub in case you fancy getting your groove on later! If you get thirsty, you can try out one of the many traditional Japanese coffee shops or perhaps have something stronger at one of the many intimate bars at Nonbei Yokocho (Drunkard’s alley).
