Asakusa & Kitchenware Town Tour/Wax Food Making Workshop

Asakusa is home to Tokyo’s oldest temple – Sensō-ji. The temple’s rich history and striking ancient architecture have made it one of Tokyo’s top attractions for foreigners and native people. Leading up to the temple, numerous souvenir and street food stalls serving the bustling crowds form a festive and energetic atmosphere. If you are lucky enough to arrive in April, you will get to see the elegant pink cherry blossom by the Sumida River close to the temple. Look further on, and you will also see Japan’s tallest structure – the Tokyo Skytree.

We will also venture into the neighboring area Kappabashi to see Tokyo’s biggest kitchenware market, where more than 170 shops dedicated to selling goods for the food and kitchen industry can be found. Here, you again might see tasty looking food on display, but this time, try and avoid putting it in your mouth as chances are it will be replica food made of plastic for restaurant displays!

    Excellent Guide and Amazing Experience

Satoko is an amazing guide. She was very prompt in replying to my enquiry and sent me a clear itinerary via email explaining what we could expect during the day. Her knowledge of Asakusa and the surrounding district was impeccable and her passion for Japanese culture shone through in her discussions. She tailored the day to suit my two curious daughters and none of their questions were too difficult or simplistic for her. Highly Recommended. I would also highly recommend taking the additional wax food class, well worth the money!
